Feel the excitement of a traveller, coming from treasured territory and arriving in a new spot. Curious about the connections to make, on so many levels. A veritable feast for the senses! We believe that intuition and open-mindedness are central to music-making. We create performances that challenge us, searching for influences from places and people to fuel our fantasy. We call it Karavan.

We present a fresh, musical narrative, weaving together timeless masterpieces with our own creations. It’s great fun, but this group of musicians takes the process very seriously, using workshop dynamics to find the right form for our ideas. There is play, movement, and experiment, and nothing is ever set in stone.

Karavan are Lorenzo Gatto, Julia Kotarba, Natalia Kotarba, Mikko Pablo, Anouchka Scaillet and Diede Verpoest. Along the way, we are fortunate to encounter guest musicians such as Kaito Winse, Ambi Subramaniam, Simon Leleux, Karim Baggili, Tristan Driessens, and Julien Brocal.

Join us as we pitch our tents. Share in our joy and energy when we present the latest entry in our logbook.

Karavan. Groove on the move

Programs

Open Road: Join Karavan on a unique musical journey where timeless classics and original compositions come together. Every note tells a story; every moment is a discovery. The musicians embark on a journey, guided by a tattered manuscript of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – fragments to be rediscovered, rhythms to be explored. The adventure begins.

Bach meets East: It’s with Bach’s Chaconne that the journey begins. An exploration of how this masterpiece can open itself to new colours, rhythms, and improvisational forms. Guesting artist is Ambi Subramaniam coming from a traditional Indian violin dynasty. His father developed specific violinistic techniques and performed with Menuhin and Grappelli. The other guest is Simon Leleux forging a powerful connection between distinct cultures.
