Pieter-Jelle de Boer Music DirectorJuly 5th 2020Good news in difficult times: Pieter-Jelle de Boer appointed Music Director of the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie. We are delighted to announce that Dutch conductor Pieter-Jelle de Boer has been appointed Music Director of the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie with effect from 1 September 2021. Pieter-Jelle de Boer has been living in France for 15 years now and conducted orchestras such as the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse and the Orchestre Régional Avignon-Provence. Previously he has been assistant conductor of the Orchestre nationale Bordeaux-Aquitaine and of associate conductor of the Accentus choir. Earlier Pieter-Jelle also conducted the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the RTVE Orchestra of Madrid, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Residentie Orkest in The Hague. In addition to being a conductor, Pieter-Jelle is also a gifted pianist, organist and composer. Since its foundation in 1984, the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie has always developed in various musical directions. This wealth has turned the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie into a flexible and innovative orchestra par excellence. In January 2020, the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie hired a new general manager, Julie Mestre. With the appointment of Pieter-Jelle de Boer, the renewal continues. The Ministry of Culture (DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), the Savoie Mont Blanc Council, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the management and the musicians of the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie were closely involved in recruiting Pieter-Jelle de Boer. All are very pleased with the appointment of Pieter-Jelle de Boer. "I am extremely happy with the prospect of being the next music director of the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie. I would like to thank its public partners, its musicians and its management for their confidence in me. I insist on presenting myself not only as a conductor, but as a musician in his own right, who desires to share his ideas and passion with equally passionate musicians, in order to communicate together all the emotions that the music can evoke to the public. The first musical moments shared with the orchestra were a strong and happy experience for me, as the pleasure of making music together was so palpable. It is on this basis that I want to continue to build our common effort, so that the orchestra will shine ever brighter in the Savoy region and beyond." |
