<image:title>News - Sabina Puértolas triumphs as Manon at the Ópera de Oviedo - "The Aragonese singer is in magnificent form and controls her silky instrument with ease, propriety and grace. The character fits her like a glove for her elegance, her grace, for that indefinable and valuable feminine touch that is so elusive. Also because it gives her the opportunity to show her expressiveness and display her exquisite art of singing. The aria Adieu ma petite table and the Gavota allow her to show off the very best". (El Español - El Cultural - Arturo Reverter) “Manon is Sabina Puértolas It is not at all easy to achieve a dramaturgical effect of this depth in an operatic role that so often tends to stereotype. Here it is achieved thanks to an exceptional protagonist who will long be remembered in our theatre: Sabina Puértolas. She has earned, in her own right, a place in the "Olympus" of the Campoamor, with a performance in the wake of the greats. Exceptional in form and substance: naïve, sensual, aggressive, madly in love, courageous, she embodies the role vocally with an expressive beauty that shows the evolution of Manon through the score. Superb moments - "Voyons, Maon", "Adieu, notre petite table" - and the duets with Des Grieux marked an intervention of volcanic intensity from beginning to end, with a closing of high emotional voltage.” (La Nueva España - Cosme Marina)</image:title>

<image:title>News - Sabina Puértolas triumphs as Manon at the Ópera de Oviedo - "Puértolas accompanied her persona with courage and daring; from the innocent and carefree girl of the first act, still a little hesitant, to that of the vicious lover already pierced by her imminent betrayal, which led her to perform a very delicate "Adieu, notre petite table". The soprano continued to grow as the moral corruption of her character progressed, with such applauded heights as the amusing and gymnastic "Profitons bien de la jeunesse", and the climax of the reunion in the abbey, already after the interval, in the duet with Celso Albelo, where the couple performed, possibly, one of the best". (La Nueva España - Chus Neira) "In this case, it was Sabina Puértolas who gave life to Manon with a great performance that brought beautiful moments such as in "Adieu notre petite table", the most applauded part of the evening, together with the well-known "Profitons bien de la jeunesse", in which the male part of the Intermezzo Choir accompanied at full power. The soprano's fine form was evident throughout the evening, in a demanding role that suits her like a glove. Very good dramatically and even better vocally, displaying a wealth of nuances, an always elegant singing line, beautiful coloratura and sweet, delicate trebles. Without doubt, it was her night" (Scherzo - Nuria Blanco Álvarez).</image:title>

<image:title>News - Sabina Puértolas triumphs as Manon at the Ópera de Oviedo - "Resounding success of 'Manon' with Sabina Puértolas. Manon transfigured into a star. Sabina Puértolas shone in the opening of the season, in which we were at times drawn into the very essence of opera. Sabina Puértolas' Manon is a role as varied as the singer. It evolves dramatically and, most difficult of all, vocally, as the opera unfolds, so it can be said that there are at least two types of singing. One, the light soprano, culminating in the Gavotte's famous 'Obéissons quand leur voix apelle' scene in Act III, with a D-sharp sustained with assurance and panache. But there is also the melancholic, sweet Manon, who, through an object, evokes an immediate past and a love about to disappear. It is the Manon of 'Adieu, notre petite table', sung with a natural lyricism, without drops of that somewhat cheesy blandness with which Massenet is sometimes interpreted. And finally, the most dramatic and stammering lyric soprano in the final duet. A duet in which the tragedy of the opera culminates in an infinite and touching tenderness. A Manon transfigured into a star, in the voice of Sabina Puertólas". (El Comercio, Cultura - Ramón Avello)</image:title>

<image:title>News - Sabina Puértolas triumphs as Manon at the Ópera de Oviedo - “And I have the feeling that if that were possible, Victoria would have smiled at the end of it, because the great protagonist was, precisely, Sabina Puértolas, the soprano from Navarre and Aragon who swept the audience off their feet with a solid performance full of personality. And I would like to point out that if there is one thing that makes her performance meritorious, it is undoubtedly her ability to bring to a character so deeply rooted in our historical musical memory the voice and characteristics of the Catalan soprano with sufficient personality to construct a distinguished young woman. Where with Victoria de los Ángeles the protagonist is an angelic girl, self-conscious and innocent without being childish or sappy, with Puértolas Manon is a young woman, full of character, dominant and courageous. It is only at the moment of the arrest in the gambling hall that Manon falls, physically and psychologically, as she becomes aware of her mistakes. Until then she has been a young but daring woman, who has feared nothing; and this is conveyed by the soprano with a strong, dense voice, with vocal details that underline that she is a woman of character, who controls and dominates all situations. It is to be appreciated that these peculiarities are sought and that we can experience another way of approaching such a familiar protagonist as Manon Lescaut. The audience at the last of the five performances of Massenet's title emphasised their joy by giving a resounding and unanimous ovation to Sabina Puértolas, who dominated the stage from her first appearance. There were even attempts to request an encore at the end of her Profitons bien de la jeuneusse, such was the satisfaction of the audience.” (Platea Magazine – Enrique Bert)</image:title>

<image:title>News - Sabina Puértolas triumphs as Manon at the Ópera de Oviedo - "The real star, eternal protagonist and always young Manon was embodied by the Navarrese soprano Sabina Puértolas, who made us fall in love again. Almost omnipresent, enchanting, seductive, innocent and corrupt, elegant and decadent, always refined, dominating the scene from beginning to end, her voice wandered through all the character's moods. From the duet with her cousin Lescaut, the delicate aria at the little table "adieu notre petite table" from the second act, the very well-known and beautiful "Profitons bien de la jeunesse" from the third act, the most applauded part of Sunday: each intervention of the Navarrese was a pleasure for the ear and the eye, full of emotions from Saint-Sulpice to the final "Je sens une puré flamee" of the repentant and dual Manon to put the finishing touch to a celebration that will go down in the history of opera in Oviedo. <image:title>News - Sabina Puértolas triumphs as Manon at the Ópera de Oviedo - "Sabina Puértolas' fascinating 'Manon' triumphs at the Campoamor Manon is a multifaceted character, who throughout the performance moves from almost childlike innocence to the most sensual concupiscence; from self-interested love to generous passion; from cheerful frivolity to tragic gravity. Sabina Puértolas interprets not only all the facets of Manon, but also the internal evolution of the character with scenic naturalness and expressive lyricism in song. Puértolas' Manon is excellent and fascinating, in which we have seen the innocent child, the sensual Lolita, the distinguished courtesan, the convinced lover and, above all, the woman who is entering tragedy as the end of life. Almost all her arias were applauded, among them the moving 'Adieu, notre petite table', converted into a universal song of longing, and above all, that final duet with Des Grieux in which Manon, as well as dying repentantly and sweetly, is transfigured by the work of love". <image:title>News - Sabina Puértolas triumphs as Manon at the Ópera de Oviedo - "It was, therefore, a special evening for the opening of the Oviedo Opera season, and it more than lived up to expectations, with an outstanding leading lady: Sabina Puértolas in a state of grace, who literally played her role with overwhelming passion and emotion that carried the show on its wings, achieving a spectacular success, not common in Oviedo premieres. Puértolas grew in the incarnation of a Manon who moved through the time span of the plot, from adolescence to death, from candour to passionate rapture to final desolation with a manifest exquisiteness in her singing and a creative brilliance of the role that was captivating from the first to the last note. Hers is a Manon that will remain in time". (Opera Actual - Cosme Marina)</image:title>

<image:title>News - Otto Tausk in his element in Beethoven's Fidelio - Great Reviews for Otto Tausk</image:title>
<image:caption>Bachtrack ★★★★ "Nederlandse Reisopera’s Fidelio makes opera truly accessible for all" “Written the year after Beethoven’s Third Symphony, Fidelio is full of orchestral colour, from lyrical cellos to off-stage trumpets, and Otto Tausk’s masterful and meticulous command of this incredible score, creating suspense at every corner, was mesmerising. Phion Orkest was on fire! The French horns were the undoubted stars of the show with their hugely intricate and impressive hunting calls.” Place de l’Opéra “CLEAR, STILIZED ORCHESTRAL SOUND” : “The stylized design was immediately audible in the overture. Otto Tausk had the orchestra play with tight, powerful expression, evoking tension by sometimes reducing the volume considerably and by inserting small interruptions in the musical progression. As if the breath was being held for a moment. Tausk also kept the reins tight in the interplay with the singers, but left enough room for lyricism and drama in the elaboration by the soloists.”</image:caption>

<image:title>News - Interartists mourns legendary pianist Menahem Pressler - Incredible long career</image:title>
<image:caption>Menahem came to Interartists with the Beaux Arts Trio, which he had founded in 1955 and with which he was associated for 50 years with heart and soul. In old age, he turned his focus to solo playing and was very successful at it. For instance, he made his debut with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in the week of his 90th birthday. In April/May 2018, he gave his last concerts in the Netherlands. Together with his beloved Schumann Quartet, he played Cesar Franck's piano quartet at Tivoli-Vredenburg and the Concertgebouw. It was the very first time he performed this raging virtuoso work. From this period is also the beautiful video recording of Debussy's Claire de Lune made by Podium Witteman (NTR). Then, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Fontys Conservatorium Tilburg, Pressler played a full recital in series Royal Souvenir des Montagnards and gave a master class to Fontys students. Menahem Pressler was much loved by Dutch chamber music audiences, who always hung on his every word when he announced his encore or when he gave master classes.</image:caption>

<image:title>News - Raoul Steffani releases new live album 'Sehnsucht' with Barbara Hannigan, Camerata RCO and Rolf Verbeek on Alpha Classics</image:title>
<image:caption>Barbara Hannigan: “Sehnsucht, a central and nearly untranslatable word of the Viennese fin-de-siècle period, referring to aspects of longing, melancholy, and nostalgia. During the Covid-19 pandemic, a collective Sehnsucht arose, in performers and audiences alike. Sehnsucht: Live in Rotterdam, played to the empty concert hall of De Doelen. We decided to issue the recording as an album, recognizing that the performance also represents continuity and mentorship through music. Both young Dutch artists, conductor Rolf Verbeek and baritone Raoul Steffani are associated with the initiatives Equilibrium and Momentum, and joined me and the Camerata RCO for this intimate journey… In Sehnsucht, we explore two song cycles of Berg, written shortly after Mahler’s 4th Symphony. All these works are presented in special arrangements for chamber ensemble. The Berg songs are expanded from their original voice and piano to a dialogue of new colours and instrumentation. Mahler’s 4th Symphony is reduced to an intimate soloistic journey, a tender conversation.” Raoul Steffani sings Alban Berg’s 4 Gesänge, Op. 2 in an arrangement for baritone and chamber orchestra by Henk de Vlieger, following on Berg’s 7 Frühe Lieder sung by Barbara Hannigan.</image:caption>

Tonight, October 28th, he performs the bass solo’s in Händel’s oratorio Alexander’s Feast with the Dutch Händel Society at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Throughout September, October and November, he performs Hugo Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch in recital with soprano Laetitia Gerards and pianist Daan Boertien for chamber music series throughout the Netherlands. In November he will perform solo recitals at the Recital Hall of the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with Daan Boertien, followed by his house debut at Dutch National Opera the same weekend in the new production Operetta Land. <image:title>News - Conductor Jules van Hessen joins Interartists Amsterdam for general management</image:title>
<image:caption>We are delighted to welcome Dutch conductor Jules van Hessen to our roster for general management. Jules van Hessen is a famously versatile and conceptually creative Dutch conductor whose repertoire, consequently, is extensive and diverse. Through his concerts, he communicates the power and beauty of music to as broad an audience as possible, using his impressive presentation skills, a wealth of creative ideas and a great sense of humor. He has worked in The Netherlands, Italy, France, Denmark, Belgium, the U.K., Germany, Austria, the U.S.A., China, the Middle East and Mexico, Brazil, and Thailand, conducting alongside artists such as Frank Peter Zimmerman, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Jaap van Zweden, Pepe Romero, Nelson Freire, Behzod Abduraimov, Peter Donohoe, Lynne Dawson, and Irene Theorin. Van Hessen’s repertoire covers much of classical music history, from early classics to contemporary music. His critically acclaimed recordings include the complete works of Danish composer Bent Sörensen. He equally excels at light music and has worked with artists such as Toots Tielemans, Caro Emerald, Johnny Logan, Alain Clark and Alessandro Safina. Passionate about the classical works of all periods, he has made it his mission to share and reveal the beauty of classical music to as many people as possible. To help achieve this, he has created the concert formula “Maestro Jules Reveals”, conducting and explaining in his unique, knowledgeable, and entertaining way the genesis and structure of the orchestral masterpieces on the programme. The series is now performed in many concert halls (Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, TivoliVredenburg Utrecht, Musis Sacrum in Arnhem, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven) by various Dutch and German orchestras. Welcome to Interartists Amsterdam, Jules van Hessen! More information about Jules van Hessen can be found on his artist page. <image:caption>We warmly congratulate mezzo-soprano Astrid Nordstad, who has been awarded the Tom Wilhelmsen Opera Prize today during a surprise ceremony at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. The jury about Astrid Nordstad: “We have had our hopes confirmed: Astrid is the type of singer that moves us, not only through the rich timbre that captures both quivering light and velvety darkness, but equally through a deep musicality. Her ability to profoundly delve into the music, her understanding of style and intense love for content make her a first-class communicator and interpreter. For the jury another important criterion has been her strong working ethics and clear goal to bravely expand her horizons towards an international career. We have the strongest faith that she will succeed and are very much looking forward to following her on her way!” About the prize Tom Wilhelmsen's Foundation’s Opera and Ballet Prize was established in 2009 and is the most important of its kind in Norway. <image:title>News - Conductor and bass-baritone Stephan MacLeod joins Interartists Amsterdam for general management</image:title>
<image:caption>We are delighted to announce that Stephan MacLeod has joined Interartists Amsterdam for general management! Stephan MacLeod is a conductor and bass-baritone. Born in Geneva, he is the founder and artistic director of Gli Angeli Genève, a vocal-instrumental ensemble that specialises in repertoire from the 16th to the 19th century on period instruments. He conducts between 40 and 50 concerts per year worldwide, a growing number of which as guest conductor with “modern” orchestras, particularly in the repertoire by J.S. Bach and his contemporaries. Simultaneously, he is also happily pursuing his singing career, and teaching singing at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne. In the 2022/23 season, he conducts his ensemble Gli Angeli Genève in numerous projects, while at the same time singing the bass solo parts: in C.P.E. Bach’s oratorio Die Israeliten in der Wüste at the Festival of Early Music in Utrecht, Bach’s Matthäus Passion at the St. Pierre Cathedral of Geneva, in their monthly Bach Cantatas series at the Temple St. Gervais, and their yearly Mozart-Haydn Festival at various venues in Geneva, which will include Stephan singing title role in Mendelssohn’s Elias under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe. As a soloist, he performs Händel’s Messiah with Concerto Copenhagen led by Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Händel’s Belshazzar with Concerto Köln led by Vaclav Luks, Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande led by Jonathan Nott, and Bach Cantatas with Les Ambassadeurs led by Alexis Kossenko, among other projects. Throughout the season, he also performs song recitals with Kristian Bezuidenhout on fortepiano, with programmes including Lieder by C.P.E. Bach, Beethoven and Schubert. Stephan MacLeod studied the violin and the piano before turning to singing, which he first studied at the Conservatoire de Genève, then with Kurt Moll at the Cologne Musikhochschule and finally with Gary Magby at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne. His singing career began during his studies in Germany through a fruitful collaboration with Reinhard Goebel and Musica Antiqua Köln. It was then that the doors to the oratorio world opened to him. Since then, he has been singing on the most important stages around the world, under the direction of conductors such as Philippe Herreweghe, Jordi Savall, Frieder Bernius, Franz Brüggen, Masaaki Suzuki, Michel Corboz, Gustav Leonhardt, Christophe Coin, Konrad Junghänel, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Sigiswald Kuijken, Vaclav Luks, Philippe Pierlot, Helmut Rilling, Rudolf Lutz, Raphael Pichon, Paul Van Nevel or Jos Van Immerseel, as well as with Daniel Harding or Jesús López Cobos. He also sang in opera productions at La Monnaie in Brussels, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Opéra national de Toulouse, Opéra de Nîmes, Opéra national de Bordeaux, and Oper Köln. Since 2005 and in parallel with his singing career, he has also devoted himself to conducting, and he founded the ensemble Gli Angeli Genève, with which he records one or two albums per year for the Claves label. Stephan MacLeod’s discography as a singer and conductor includes more than 100 CDs, many of them critically acclaimed. Since 2013, he has been a singing teacher at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne and shares his career between teaching, his commitments as a singer, his ensemble, and the increasing demand for him as a conductor of Bach in particular. He regularly conducts the musicians of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Philharmonie Zudnederland, the Netherlands Bach Society, the Pacific Baroque Orchestra and the Purcell Choir and Orfeo Orchestra, among others. <image:title>News - Laetitia Gerards and Raoul Steffani to perform Phion’s New Year’s Concert at the Concertgebouw - Soprano Laetitia Gerards and baritone Raoul Steffani will be the soloists of the New Year’s concert of the AVROTROS Sunday morning series at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. With the orchestra Phion led by Enrico Delamboye, they perform arias and duets from operas and operettas. (full programme here below) The concert is one of the very few live musical events happening in the Netherlands at the moment, because of the strict lockdown. Radio 4 AVROTROS is recording and broadcasting the concert live on January 2nd at 11:00. Laetitia Gerards previously worked with the orchestra Phion in 2019, when she sang the role of Anne in Sondheim’s A little night music with the Dutch Reisopera, and in the summer of 2021 as a soloist in an all-American programme led by Sander Teepen. This spring, she will sing Marenka in The Bartered Bride, again with the Dutch Reisopera with Phion in the pit. For Raoul Steffani, this is his second collaboration in a month with Phion: in December he performed Alma Mahler’s Fünf Lieder in an arrangement for orchestra with them, conducted by Otto Tausk, to critical acclaim of De Volkskrant: “Raoul Steffani, with his warm, levelled baritone voice and sensitivity to text, is a dreamed-of song interpreter.”</image:title>

<image:title>News - Raoul Steffani joins Interartists Amsterdam for general management - Interartists Amsterdam is delighted to welcome baritone Raoul Steffani to its roster for Opera as well as Concert management. Praised by Opernwelt for singing “fresh and lyrically clear, with a sensitive interpretation, from an intelligent theatrical distance", Raoul will make his debut this summer as Ned Keene in a spectacular seaside production of Peter Grimes with Wadopera. Next season, he will revive the role of Ramiro in L'heure espagnole for Opéra de Toulon. Operatic roles he looks forward to debuting in the future are, among others, Mercutio, Harlekin, Pollux, Falke and Papageno. On the concert stage, he can be heard in numerous song recitals with pianist Gerold Huber and with Lucie Horsch, for series and festivals such as Oxford Lieder, Kunsthalle Hamburg, TivoliVredenburg, Vocallis and International Lied Festival Zeist. In January 2022, he will sing opera and operetta arias and duets on tour in the Netherlands with the orchestra Phion. Since May 2021, Raoul has been a member of Equilibrium, the Young Artist Programme of Barbara Hannigan.</image:title>

<image:title>About Us - Meet the Director</image:title>
<image:caption>Interartists Amsterdam is a well-established agency with a long history of successful collaborations. We work with a great variety of artists: from upcoming talent to some of the most renowned artists in the world. Forerunners of our agency already started in 1928, making us one of the oldest agencies in the world that is still operative. In 2006 Leontien van der Vliet has become one of the owners at Interartists. Colleagues and clients alike trust her implicitly, confident in her ability to manage the agency with a steady hand. Leontien thrives on intellectual challenges, enjoying the process of logical and theoretical analysis. Her approach to executing tasks is well-organized and systematic, ensuring that every detail is meticulously handled. Her keen sense of observation allows her to see what is needed for her clients to perform at their best. Before she devoted herself to Artist Management in 1997, Leontien was a member of the editorial staff of music journal Mens & Melodie as well as radio broadcast company ConcertZender. Her background in musicology and in arts policy and management has given her a deep appreciation for the arts and a great ability to communicate effectively. Whether she is crafting a compelling pitch or sharing insights about the artists she represents, her passion for storytelling is evident in her engaging narratives. During her frequent travels by train in the Benelux and through German-speaking countries, Leontien enjoys attending concerts, where she finds new sources of inspiration and connects with the vibrant energy of live performances. Her diverse interests and experiences make her a well-rounded and empathetic sales professional. Leontien’s ability to blend her love for music, literature, and the outdoors (rowing and gardening) with her professional skills allow her to connect with clients on a deeper level, understanding their needs and aspirations.</image:caption>
